You will find a treasure trove of information regarding the times of a man who achieved artistic notoriety and most of whose monumental, ideal, and numismatic works remain intact in bronze or marble, more than 100 years later. They are testaments to an artistic period where sculpture shifted from the European influenced "Gilded Age" to being truly American. This period spans 1887 until his early death in 1917. During his time, he created over 180 sculptural works of art, most of which are still only vaguely connected to the man who created them. As Head of the sculpture department at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston from 1898-1917, Pratt taught a generation of sculptors. He served on many Art Commissions, exhibited his works in the Paris Salons and across the US. He received major medals, was a vital member of numerous societies, leagues and clubs, yet still had time to play, correspond, sculpt for pleasure, and maintain deep friendships.
